We didn't really celebrate Thanksgiving this year as I just returned home....have to say, I missed not cooking that turkey. And, of course, I will be missing the turkey soup in a about a week probably. Hoping all is well down your way!Libby https://www.blogger.com/profile/11556491482494737313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-323849547147404211.post-6317751554515960902015-11-16T15:47:37.728-05:002015-11-16T15:47:37.728-05:00Oh, this one looks sooooo rich! I'm not sure I could handle it after such a heavy meal but may be tempted for an afternoon slice of pie with a cup of tea or coffee on any other day.

I'd love to have access to a nut tree to pick and shell the freshest of nuts for home cooking, or simply to crack and pop directly in one's mouth for a nutritious snack. It sounds like the setting for a Eudora Welty story. Cleveland has nothing so exotic, although there do exist some hardy pecans that even can be grown in Canada. Ohio does have hickory nuts, a kind of super-pecan, very intense in flavor, but I was never able to find them in quantities large enough to bake with, plus they are very difficult to shell.

I love the idea of walking around the yard or neighborhood, picking up the pecans that no one else wants! The pie looks delicious, and I can imagine to keep going back for another sliver.
--JimParnassushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08958901307538141468noreply@blogger.com
